Support & FAQ
Having trouble? Check the FAQs and setup guide below. If still unresolved, contact us via in-app Feedback.
Setup
- Enable Screen Time on iPhone / iPad (Settings → Screen Time).
- For child devices: complete Family Sharing and Screen Time API authorization. Child installs Screen Guardian and joins family; parent creates family and shares the 6-digit code.
Identity & Basic Settings (Quick Start)
Tap Identity & Settings at the bottom to open the wizard.
- Parent: 4 steps—choose Parent → notification permission → create or restore family (get 6-digit code) → configure child devices. No close button; complete via Next/Done.
- Child: 5 steps—choose Child → notification permission → enter family code to join → Step 4 Select managed apps (required; select apps in the system picker) → Step 5 tap "Go to rules" to set daily limit, blocked period, etc. First-time setup cannot be dismissed by swipe; use the bottom buttons. Re-entering Identity & Settings requires parent password, then the sheet can be dismissed by swipe.
- If the family code is invalid or not found, the app shows: "This family code does not exist or has expired. Please confirm the correct 6-digit code with the parent and try again."
Siri Voice FAQ
Premium supports Siri for "lock child device", "allow 10 more minutes", "start focus mode", "remove limit". If you see the issues below, follow the steps.
"Hey Siri, lock child phone" locks the parent device
The system may interpret this as lock current device. Fix: In Shortcuts, find Screen Guardian's "Lock child phone", enable "Run with Siri". Or say "Hey Siri, use Screen Guardian lock child phone" (adding "use Screen Guardian" helps).
"Hey Siri, allow 10 more minutes" opens the Timer
The system may interpret this as the built-in Timer. Fix: Enable "Run with Siri" for Screen Guardian's "Allow 10 more minutes" shortcut, or say "Hey Siri, use Screen Guardian allow 10 more minutes".
"Hey Siri, start focus mode" or "remove limit" doesn't work
No shortcut is bound with Siri enabled. In Shortcuts, find Screen Guardian's "Start focus mode" and "Remove limit", enable "Run with Siri" for each. Or say "Hey Siri, use Screen Guardian start focus mode" / "Hey Siri, use Screen Guardian remove limit".
One-time Siri setup
- Open the Shortcuts app.
- Find Screen Guardian's: Lock child phone, Allow 10 more minutes, Start focus mode, Remove limit.
- For each: tap the shortcut → enable "Run with Siri" → set or confirm the phrase.
- Prefer phrases starting with "use Screen Guardian" to avoid confusion.
